What Are The Maccabi Games?
The JCC Maccabi Games ® have been offering a life-and personality-shaping experience to Jewish teenagers since 1982. At this Olympic-style sporting event for Jewish teens 13-16 years old*, each athlete has the chance to participate in one of 16 sports in events spanning the week-long experience, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
The JCC Maccabi Games however serve a larger purpose than athletic competition. The Games also promote community involvement, teamwork, and pride in being Jewish. The Games are the largest Jewish teen event in the world – each summer over 6,000 Jewish teens participate in the Games. Over 175,000 teens, from over 100 different communities in North and South America, Israel, and Great Britain, have benefited from the JCC Maccabi Games ® since 1982.
On the field, athletes participate in one of 16 sports. Off the field, the excitement continues with Opening Ceremonies, evening social activities including amusement parks, zoos, host family night, parties and dances, all designed to encourage interaction among the athletes who come from around the US and the world.
All athletes participate in a unique community service project, “JCC Cares”, which is independent from their competition, a hands-on project that may serve those in need in the host community and/or teach the athletes something about Jewish and/or Israeli culture.

Looking back at Junior Maccabi Games 2015:
May was bursting in Maccabi pride as athlete’s ages 9-10 competed in the MINI Maccabi Games at the Rockland JCC in Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball and Boys Soccer.
Athletes ages 11-12 competed in the Jr. Maccabi Games at the Kaisserman JCC in Philadelphia. Westchester fielded teams in Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Boys Baseball, Swimming and Tennis.
The days started off bright and early with 700 Jewish athletes in Philly for the Jr. Maccabi Games and 250 Jewish athletes in Rockland for the inaugural MINI Maccabi Games. Delegations marched into opening ceremonies proudly under their JCC’s banner. America’s and Israel’s National Anthems were sung, some words of encouragement and the athletes were off to a full day of Jewish sports and camaraderie. Everyone competed hard, medals were won but most importantly when the competition was over everyone walked away with a smile on their face!!!
