Llama Llovers
By Emily Hargitai
Here at the JCC, we are teaming up with Heifer International to
raise money to buy a llama for a needy family in South America. By
collecting empty soda cans and 2-liter plastic bottles, we can raise
$150 to donate. In rough areas of Latin America where there is
minimal pasture, llamas are a blessing.
They play an important role
in cultural life because they are very useful. Women weave fleece
into clothes, and they are used to bring goods across rugged slopes
at high altitudes. They provide transportation, income, and wool.
With your help, the 4th, 5th and 6th grade Service Project Club
at Almost Home can change the life of a needy family in South
America.
Thanks Emily! The kids will also be making llama T-Shirts. If
you or your child would like one, it's $5.00 for Service Project
Club members and $10.00 for non- members ($5.00 will go toward the
llama donation). If anyone knows of anyone who has llamas that
lives nearby, please let us know. The kids would love to plan a
field trip to learn more about llamas! |
Be a Llama Llover!
Drop off your
aluminum and plastic redeemable recyclables in our Llama bin by the
main entrance of the JCC.
Cash and recyclable
receipts can be left in our Llama Tzedakah box at the reception
window.
Or purchase a Llama
Llover T-shirt.
