Welcome
to the JCC. We invite those of you who have been a part of the JCC
experience to continue to enjoy our incredibly diverse programs
available to people of all ages. Newcomers will quickly learn why so
many believe the JCC is a “hidden jewel” among service providers in the
rivertown communities.
We have aligned ourselves with the core goal of UJA-Federation of New
York in building a caring and compassionate community. Therefore, this
year we will make a concerted effort to engage our members and program
participants, from our Early Childhood Program students to our active
adults, in community service. Much of our programming will embrace the
Jewish value of mitzvot, good deeds.
Needless to say, there is so much that the JCC community can do to help
make the lives of others better. Food and clothing drives, the Gift of
Chanukah, mentoring, friendly visits, volunteering at holiday
celebrations, and providing needed scholarship support are just a few of
the opportunities that can make a difference.
This past year, JCC members contributed $5,000 to the Hurricane Katrina
Relief Fund. Early Childhood Program parents sponsored a Poker Night
raising more than $7,000, and creating a sense of community through
their efforts. The Annual Golf and Tennis Outing brought in over $17,000
in support of special needs scholarships for needy
families and programming
for individuals with disabilities.
Too
often, we ask the question, “What can one person do?” At the JCC the
answer is simple, get involved and make a difference.
We hope you’ll be part of the JCC experience. We look forward to sharing
our success with you.
