Summer Camping
Picture your child discovering their creativity through an
arts and crafts project, learning to play tennis, embarking on their
first overnight, swimming the length of the pool, singing a Shabbat
song. Picture your child at a JCC summer camp, where each program
encourages campers to develop their imagination and individual abilities
while enhancing a positive self-esteem.

JCC Country Day Camp
(6-14
Years)
Monday, June 30 – Friday, August 15
JCC Country Day Camp is the place for campers to excel. All
programs promote skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship.
There are open green fields for softball, soccer, and
volleyball, and an all-purpose sports court for basketball,
roller-skating, and floor hockey. Instructional programs in gymnastics
and tennis are part of this unique summer experience.
The swimming program focuses on developing skills and water
safety. Red Cross certification instruction ranges from beginners to
advanced levels in the morning, with free swims in the afternoons.
Cultural arts and other hands-on projects, dance, music,
drama, archery, a horseback riding option, and boating, along with trips
and theme days keep children involved and happy. Jewish values and
culture are incorporated into the camp program through songs, music,
Friday oneg shabbats, and craft projects. Older campers enjoy the fun
and excitement of a three-day, two-night adventure to Lake George.
The wooded natural setting of the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds
in Pearl River, N.Y. has three large swimming pools, a beautiful lake
and streams, hiking trails and a nature center. It is the perfect
setting for children to experience an enjoyable camping season.

Camp BaShemesh
(6-14 years
with mild to moderate developmental disabilities)
(Hebrew for "in
the sun")
Monday, June 30 – Friday, August 15
Camp BaShemesh provides a
summer of structured activities for children with special needs and
ongoing experiences with typical campers. Our goal is to provide an
exciting, positive summer experience through therapeutic recreation and
activities that build self-esteem and independence, while maximizing
opportunities for inclusion. Modeled after a traditional day camp
experience, Camp BaShemesh, located on the same site as the JCC's
Country Day Camp, fosters the strengths of our campers. Each camp
day will stimulate your child's ability in relationship building,
teamwork, and important life skills, while developing his understanding
and appreciation for the environment.
Program support is provided by a grant from UJA-Federation of New York.
